STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC midfielders Gabriel Cabral and Jamil Roberts were named to USL League One’s Team of the Week for Week 15 of the 2022 regular season. Roberts and Cabral both scored goals in South Georgia’s first win at home this season against Chattanooga Red Wolves SC on Saturday night. Cabral was voted the League One Player of the Week.
Cabral’s game-winning goal ended South Georgia’s seven-game winless streak at home. Cabral assisted Roberts’ opening goal following a through ball to the middle of the penalty box. The midfielder was the only player to record both a goal and an assist in the same match in Week 15.
Roberts scored his first League One goal for South Georgia in the 37th minute of the first half. Roberts’ offensive presence had the Chattanooga defense working overtime to prevent any more goals on Saturday night. The Englishman also added seven recoveries and completed a season-high 65% of his dribbles.
Following Saturday’s match, Tormenta FC will play its first midweek match of the season hosting Greenville Triumph SC next Wednesday, July 13, at Erk Russell Park, at 7:30 p.m. ET.
