STATESBORO, Ga. – After losing its first game on the road this season, South Georgia Tormenta FC now regroups to focus on winning against North Carolina FC as it visits Erk Russell Park this Saturday, July 23. After a whole week of training and resting, South Georgia now comes into the game against North Carolina, looking for its second win of the season at home. A win and a draw in its two previous encounters inspire Tormenta FC to continue this good form of football at home.
Both teams have obtained wins on the road. In South Georgia’s home opener against NCFC, the visitors were able to get a win, handing Tormenta FC an unnecessary loss.
The scenario did not favor the home side when South Georgia visited North Carolina; however, Kazaiah Sterling, Arthur Bosua and Barry Sharifi led the team to a thrilling 3-2 victory and kept the series tied.
Three games in seven days for Tormenta FC last week saw it obtain its first victory at home against Chattanooga Red Wolves SC last Saturday and a 5-5 draw against Greenville Triumph SC on Wednesday night. Four points in two games at home for Tormenta FC is an essential step in pushing for a playoff spot as the second half of the season commences. With the series tied with a game won for each team, Saturday’s game will be more than just three points for either side. It will be a game that both teams should be looking to win to have an advantage over the other team come to the end of the season.
NCFC sits second to last in League One standings and is currently winless for over a month. Last Saturday, NCFC suffered a 2-1 defeat on the road against the Chattanooga Red Wolves.
