STATESBORO, Ga. – In a night full of delays due to inclement weather, South Georgia Tormenta FC was able to get its second win of the season against the Greenville Triumph with a 1-3 victory on the road. Goals from Kazaiah Sterling, Kingsford Adjei and Gabriel Cabral led South Georgia to a win that culminated the series between Triumph SC and Tormenta FC in favor of Tormenta FC.
In a first half full of action, South Georgia was able to get the first goal of the night in the 27th minute after Sterling found a precise through ball placed in by Otieno. Sterling was able to body a Triumph defender and beat a second defender, allowing him to find himself alone against the keeper before placing the ball through his legs.
Three minutes later, Sterling was able to assist in Adjei’s fourth goal of the season after placing a ball inside the box, where Adjei was able to maneuver himself through a trifecta of Triumph defenders and edge the ball into the far right post of the keeper, who was unable to save the perfectly placed shot.
Nearing the end of the first half, Triumph SC scored its first goal of the night through a corner kick.
Upon the commencement of the second half, South Georgia wasted no time and was able to get its third goal of the night following a free kick goal by Cabral. The free kick split the wall and the low-driven shot was able to find the back of the net, leaving the Triumph SC keeper responseless.
A couple of minutes after Cabral’s goal, the match was suspended due to thunder near the stadium, delaying the game for 45 minutes. Following the resumption of the game, Tormenta FC was able to control the tempo of the match and alleviated any dangerous opportunities from a Triumph SC side that gave it all until the last minute of the match.
Tonight’s Player of the Match, presented by Galactic Comics and Games, is Kazaiah Sterling. Sterling continues to prove why he is one of the best strikers in League One. Tonight, Sterling scored the first goal and assisted the second.
