STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC suffers its second consecutive defeat after falling to Charlotte Independence FC for the first time in club history.
Sixteen minutes into the first half, the Independence found the first goal of the night through a corner kick.
A shot from afar saw Tormenta FC present itself with danger for the first time tonight in the 30th minute. Without hesitating, Owen Green fired a shot aimed toward the top right of the net, however the Independence keeper was able to send the ball to a corner kick.
Just before the end of the first half, the Independence doubled its lead after Tresor Mbuyu was able to convert the low cross to the bottom corner of the left side of the net.
Tonight’s Player of the Match, presented by Galactic Comics and Games, is Gabriel Cabral. Cabral’s ability to withhold offensive pressure from the visiting team helped Tormenta FC be the better team throughout the first 20 minutes of the match. Despite the loss, Cabral was able to create opportunities and track back defensively when needed.
