STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC has announced the addition of midfielder Mutaya Mwape to its 2022 USL League One roster, pending league and federation approval. The midfielder adds offensive flair and experience to the midfield unit, joining the club’s first team after spending the summer with Tormenta FC 2.
“Mwape has been with us since pre-season with the intention of joining the squad. We expected him to become eligible well before now, but we’re grateful he was able to play in USL2 matches to stay match sharp and we’re excited to see him contribute to the last third of the season. He’s a technically gifted player and we’re hoping he will add goals and assist at the business end of the season.”

Mwape brings professional experience with him to Tormenta FC, having played for the Charlotte Independence in the USL Championship and the Richmond Kickers in USL League One with an overall three goals scored and five assists recorded.
Collegiately, Mwape played for two years at Lindsey Wilson College between 2016 and 2017, scored 25 goals, and tallied 19 assists in 34 appearances.
While with Tormenta FC 2, Mwape started in eleven games playing 616 minutes, scoring once, and assisting thrice.
