STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC’s Joshua Phelps has been given a red card by an independent review panel and is suspended for Wednesday’s USL League One game against Charlotte Independence.
Phelps was issued a yellow card for a foul during the fifth minute of first-half stoppage time during the match against Central Valley Fuego FC on Aug. 27, but the foul has retroactively been deemed worthy of a red card.
The defender will serve the suspension this Wednesday, as Tormenta FC faces off against the Independence at 7 p.m. ET from American Legion Memorial Stadium. Phelps will then be eligible to return for Tormenta FC’s away match against the Richmond Kickers on Sept. 7.
As Tormenta FC continues a historic 2022 and transitions from Erk Russell Park to its new stadium, Tormenta Nation can ensure its presence at the new stadium by purchasing season memberships and Flex Ticket packages in advance.
