CHARLOTTE, NC. – South Georgia Tormenta FC earned its second consecutive victory on the road after securing a 2-0 win against the Charlotte Independence at American Legion Memorial Stadium on Wednesday. Kazaiah Sterling and Kingsford Adjei scored the goals to help Tormenta FC earn its second win of the month.
Sterling put Tormenta FC ahead in the sixth minute after a brilliant free kick by Gabriel Cabral hit the crossbar and bounced back into play. Sterling then fired in the rebound.
Charlotte did not back down after going down early, outshooting South Georgia 14-3 in the first half. Miguel Ibarra had the best shot on goal in the first 45 minutes, but an incredible diving save by goalkeeper TJ Bush helped Tormenta FC hold onto the lead heading into the break.
In the second half, however, Tormenta FC took a 2-0 lead thanks to a precise strike by Kingsford Adjei. Tobias Otieno assisted the second goal and helped command the midfield as the team held on for another clean sheet on the road.
Tonight’s Player of the Match, presented by Galactic Comics and Games, is Otieno. The midfielder provided one assist and created two scoring chances on the offensive end and also made four clearances, two interceptions and one tackle on the defensive end.
