RICHMOND, Va. – South Georgia Tormenta FC put on a fight this Wednesday night against the Richmond Kickers but ultimately fell to the home side 3-1 despite an early goal from Adrian Billhardt.
South Georgia scored first thanks to a penalty earned by newly arrived Mukwelle Akale. After dribbling through the opponents’ defensive line, Akale was taken down inside the box making it easy for the referee to call the decision. An inspired Billhardt stood up to the occasion, and without hesitation, Billhardt delivered with a powerful strike to the opposing keeper’s left side.
In the second half, Richmond were able to find three goals to give them the lead and ultimately the victory.
Tonight’s Player of the Match, presented by Galactic Comics and Games, is Fuad Adeniyi. Adeniyi helped South Georgia limit the Kickers opportunities throughout the first half. Despite not getting the win tonight, Adeniyi racked up three clearances and an interception.
