STATESBORO, Ga. – After a month on the road, South Georgia Tormenta FC returns home to play in its second to last game at Erk Russell Park against Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC on Paws and Claws Night this Saturday, Sept. 10, at 7:30 p.m. ET. For the first time in club history, South Georgia will host Hailstorm FC in hopes of its first win against the Colorado-based side after drawing and losing once in two visits to Colorado.
South Georgia looks for a win to continue climbing up the League One table in the final stages of the regular season.
In a battle between fifth and sixth in the current standings, South Georgia looks to regroup and get a win at home following several weeks on the road. In addition, South Georgia looks to end its stay at Erk Russell Park positively after being its home since the inaugural League One season in 2019. With two games left, the team knows the pressure is ahead in anticipation of a max capacity crowd in its first game at Tormenta Stadium on Oct. 1.
South Georgia Tormenta FC fought last Wednesday night against the Richmond Kickers but ultimately fell to the home side 3-1 despite an early goal from Adrian Billhardt.
With six games remaining, Sterling is on the verge of breaking the record for most goals scored throughout the regular season for South Georgia’s League One team. Former TFC midfielder Marco Micaletto holds the record with 11 goals scored in 2021. Sterling’s nine goals in sixteen games sees him average a goal every 119 minutes played.
