STATESBORO, Ga. – Tormenta FC Academy was announced as one of six recipients of the MLS NEXT Delivering Access Program, presented by DoorDash, a program benefitting MLS NEXT clubs by providing financial resources that advance soccer communities throughout the MLS NEXT system. The Tormenta FC Academy was announced as a winner of the award in November and was presented the $25,000 Scholarship, presented by DoorDash, during the MLS NEXT Fest in Indio, California, this week.
“At Tormenta FC, we live and breathe soccer and MLS NEXT is so important for us,” TFC Academy Director of Coaching, Stefan King, said. “Our families are going to benefit incredibly from it, but more than that, this will create a significant trickle-down effect for future generations of players at Tormenta FC. We cannot thank DoorDash and MLS NEXT enough for selecting us as a Delivering Access recipient.”
Tormenta FC believes that if a player is good enough to make a team, the inability to pay should not be a factor. To that end, Tormenta FC Academy, in partnership with the Ibis Foundation, provides needs-based scholarships for all of our soccer programs. Tormenta FC’s partnership with DoorDash will allow many economically disadvantaged children to participate when they otherwise could not.
Committed to raising the level of soccer locally and across the country, Tormenta FC Academy has programs available from age four all the way up to age 19 and is the only youth academy in South Georgia and the Lowcountry of South Carolina with a path to the professional ranks.
