STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC announces the signing of Jackson Khoury to its 2023 USL League One roster on a two-year deal, with a one-year option, pending league and federal approval. The Australian native joins Tormenta FC following a year with Sydney United 58 FC of the second division of Australia.
“Jackson is a very promising profile to bring to Tormenta. Khoury has natural habits we like in wide midfielders, such as a strong recognition when to arrive to feet to link play and when to stretch the game in behind to be dynamic. He can play on the right and cut inside or on the left and supply crosses, and with his size and aggression he will be someone we expect to arrive in the box often and be a goal threat. He loves to compete which will always be a staple of our teams and after he adjusts to his new environment, we believe he can be a key contributor this season.”
Ian Cameron, Tormenta FC Head Coach
Khoury appeared for Sydney United in 2021, when he played eight games, scoring twice and assisting twice. With the Sydney-based team, Khoury took on the Western Sydney Wanderers of the A-League in the Football Federation Australia (FFA) Cup, now known as the Australia Cup.
Khoury was instrumental in Sydney United’s National Premier League NSW 2020 championship run. Khoury scored the third goal in the final and scored the second penalty kick in the penalty shootout after 120 minutes.
“I decided to join Tormenta for the upcoming season after speaking to the coaching staff about what they are looking to achieve and build after last season’s championship win. I also think it will be a massive stepping stone for my career to help take it to the next level, and to grow as an individual being around the set up and mindset that the club has to offer.”
Jackson Khoury, Tormenta FC Midfielder
In 2022, Khoury spent time with the Central Coast Mariners Academy, which currently competes in the National Premier League NSW Men’s 2, which is level 2 in the New South Wales league system. Khoury has also spent time with the Lebanese Youth National Teams in previous camps.
The growing 2023 roster features a strong core of seven returners ready to fight for a second League One title with the added power of new midfielder Matheus Cassini, first-year professional Collin Mocyunas, and many more new additions to be announced in the coming weeks.
Tormenta FC fans can secure their seats at the new Tormenta Stadium ahead of 2023, with Season Tickets now available for purchase.
