STATESBORO, Ga. — In its penultimate preseason friendly, South Georgia Tormenta FC will make its only roadtrip of the preseason to Charleston, South Carolina, to take on the USL Championship’s Charleston Battery in a closed door friendly on Saturday, March 4, at 7:30 p.m. ET. The closed-door friendly will take place at Patriots Point Stadium, and no live stream will be available for Saturday’s match.
Last Saturday, South Georgia welcomed the Tampa Bay Rowdies to Tormenta Stadium and ultimately fell to the Tampa Bay side 3-1. Despite the loss, many lessons were learned, and now, Head Coach Ian Cameron will look to implement what was learned to one of its final tests of the preseason against a rebuilding Battery side under new leadership in Ben Pirmann.
The Statesboro side is familiar with winning ways in South Carolina. Against the Battery last year, South Georgia was able to knock the Charleston side out of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, ending the Battery’s run in the Second Round. Notably, Tormenta FC alum Leland Archer will take on the Statesboro side this time around playing for the Charleston side. Former Charleston players Preston Kilwien, Arthur Bosua (unavailable) and Deshawon Nembhard return to Patriots Point to play against their former club.
The growing 2023 Tormenta FC roster features a strong core of returners ready to fight for a second League One title with the added power of new midfielder Matheus Cassini, first-year professional Collin Mocyunas and many more new additions.
Tormenta FC fans can secure their seats at the new Tormenta Stadium ahead of 2023, with Season Tickets now available for purchase.
