STATESBORO, GA. – South Georgia Tormenta FC has announced the signing of forward Andrew Akindele to its 2023 USL League One title-defending roster on a performance based contract, pending league and federation approval. Akindele comes to Tormenta FC after a year with FC Cincinnati 2, in 2022.
With FC Cincinnati 2, Akindele featured in fifteen games, totaling 943 minutes throughout the 2022 season. Akindele scored three goals in his first year as a professional, scoring against Chicago II, Orlando City B and New York City FC II.
Collegiately, Akindele totaled seven goals and five assists in 39 appearances during the forward’s career at the University of Wisconsin. Akindele was a 2018 All-Big Ten Freshman Team and received a top 50 ranking on Top Drawer Soccer’s Top 100 Freshman list. The Chicago, Ill. native began his career in the Chicago Fire FC Academy when he was 13.
With the addition of Akindele, South Georgia is poised to make a strong push for the championship title in the upcoming season. Fans can secure their seats at the new Tormenta Stadium ahead of 2023, with Season Tickets now available for purchase.
