STATESBORO, Ga. – On the heels of two consecutive home victories, South Georgia Tormenta FC plays host to Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC on Wednesday, Aug. 23, at 7:30 p.m. ET from Optim Sports Medicine Field at Tormenta Stadium (ESPN+). Wednesday’s match, which was originally scheduled for June 18 but canceled due to persistent lightning in the Bulloch County area, will be played in its entirety. Tormenta FC was ahead 1-0 against Northern Colorado after 45 minutes played in Statesboro, Georgia, but per League One guidelines, the match will resume as a new match kicking off with a scoreline of 0-0.

Tormenta FC enters the match with an overall record of 9-11-3 (W-L-D), taking down Forward Madison FC 4-2 in the team’s most recent match on Saturday. Kazaiah Sterling leads the team with nine goals scored in the League One regular season, while Mukwelle Akale has shined in recent weeks for South Georgia. Akale has seven goals and four assists to his name this season and will be looking to be the spark against a Northern Colorado team that has struggled as of late.
Hailstorm FC comes into the match with a 10-5-6 record, which has the team placed fourth in the standings; however, the team has not won a game in its last five matches, losing four of those five. Despite Northern Colorado’s struggles of late, the team still boasts one of the best offenses across the league this season. Trevor Amann leads the team and league in goals scored with 16, while Arthur Rogers leads the team and league in assists with eight on the season.
Following Wednesday’s match, Tormenta FC’s attention quickly turns to a showdown against Chattanooga Red Wolves SC at 7:30 p.m. ET from CHI Memorial Stadium in East Ridge, Tennessee on Saturday, Aug. 26 (ESPN+). The match between the two regional rivals will be the third and final one of the season, with Tormenta FC already winning the first two meetings.
