Richmond, Va. – South Georgia Tormenta FC travels to Richmond, Virginia, this weekend to play the Richmond Kickers in what will be Tormenta FC’s first away match of the 2024 season.
South Georgia Tormenta FC travels up I-95 for a showdown in Richmond after picking up its first competitive win of the 2024 season Tuesday when a Nick Akoto diving header led to a 1-0 victory over FC America CFL Spurs in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup opening round. with a 0-1-1 (W-L-D) USL League One record after a late equalizer from Niall Watson took a point against Forward Madison FC.
The Kickers host Tormenta FC following a 1-0 victory Wednesday over USL League Two side Christos FC in the Open Cup. Richmond has started its USL League One season with a 0-1-0 record after losing 2-1 to USL League One newcomer Spokane Velocity.
Pablo Jara, Adrian Billhardt, Arthur Bosua, and Ryan Sierakowski are four former Tormenta FC players currently on the Richmond squad. All four were members of the 2022 USL League One championship-winning side.
Founded in 2015, Tormenta FC is a professional soccer club based in Statesboro, Georgia. Tormenta FC competes in the professional USL League One and the pre-professional USL W League, under the United Soccer League (USL) and has also established a thriving academy system throughout South Georgia and the Lowcountry of South Carolina.
