STATESBORO, Ga. – August 20, 2024 – South Georgia Tormenta FC’s Preston Kilwien was named to the USL League One Team of the Week starting XI and Pedro Fonseca was named to the bench for Week 17. This honor comes on the heels of a stellar performance from each player in their last match against Northern Colorado Hailstorm.
Kilwien maintained an 87% accuracy on all passes, made six clearances, and won three duels. Kilwien also provided the assist to Pedro Fonseca’s goal in the last 30 seconds of the match.
Fonseca was the lone goalscorer for South Georgia against Northern Colorado Hailstorm. Fonseca has now scored a goal in the last four USL League One regular season matches. Fonseca also won five ground duels and one aerial duel during the match.
Fans can watch the Tormenta FC squad in action at 7:30 p.m. on September 1 at Tormenta Stadium as the team takes on One Knoxville in the final group stage match of the Jägermeister Cup. Tickets to the upcoming match can be found here.
