STATESBORO, Ga. – August 29, 2024 – South Georgia Tormenta FC’s Joshua Ramos received a call-up to play for the U.S. Virgin Islands National Team. Ramos will play in two matches in the CONCACAF Nations League against the Bahamas and Barbados.
Ramos will play against the Bahamas on Wednesday, September 4 and then faces Barbados Tuesday, September 10.
Ramos was previously called up during the last international window to play in the World Cup Qualifiers with the U.S. Virgin Islands. Since his international debut in 2019, the 23-year-old defender has become a regular name on the call-up list, representing the U.S. Virgin Islands eight times. In 2023, Ramos received the honor of acting as the captain of the U.S. Virgin Islands National Team.
“Having the opportunity over the years to receive call-ups and serve for international duty means everything,” Ramos said. “It is an honor to represent the Island and my family in these upcoming matches.”
Ramos signed his first professional contract with Tormenta FC, a one-year contract with a club option, on December 19, 2023. Since then, the 24-year-old defender has become a familiar face to Tormenta FC’s starting lineup and has played a pivotal role in maintaining the club’s backline. Ramos has scored one goal this season, netting a goal against the Savannah Clovers in Round Two of the U.S. Open Cup.
