Tormenta FC is on the road again after a winning start to the 2025 USL W League season, facing off against two more North Carolina teams back to back before the home opener on Wednesday, May 28th. To gain an advantage in the league table, the team works to claim six more points over the week.
Tormenta will first face off against the Charlotte Eagles on Tuesday, May 20, at 7:00 p.m. at Matthews Sportsplex Field. Three days later, the team will travel to WakeMed Soccer Park Field to play NC Courage U23 on Friday, May 23, at 3:00 p.m. Both opposing teams have yet to play their first game of the W League season, while South Georgia has one win under its belt after Saturday’s match against North Carolina Fusion.
The women’s team showed signs of great talent and determination in the game against NC Fusion. Forwards Mady Soumare and Constance Agyemang impressed by scoring the first two goals of the season, both of which were scored off corners. The Ibis put on a masterclass in passing play and ball retention throughout the match, creating many chances for players like Soumare and forward Chinatsu Kaio to score. Defender Jhenesis Ellerbe and goalkeeper Cora Brendle showed moments of defensive brilliance, with Brendle showcasing her shot-stopping abilities to maintain Tormenta’s lead in the second half.
After wrapping up a three-match road stretch, South Georgia’s W League squad returns home for its home opener on Wednesday, May 28, hosting North Carolina Fusion at 7:30 p.m. at Tormenta Stadium.
