
STATESBORO, Ga. – Tormenta FC Academy will compete in the USL Academy’s inaugural 2020 Eastern Conference Event this weekend. The club has announced a U17 roster of 18 local youth players to compete as one of the 33 teams in the USL Academy Cup.
“The USL Academy Cup is a big step in the right direction for youth development in the United States” Tormenta FC Head Coach John Miglarese said. “We wish the best of luck to our Tormenta FC Academy team this weekend.”
Tormenta FC Academy’s U17 Boys face FC Miami City tonight at 7 p.m. ET at the Premier Sports Campus in Lakewood Ranch, Fla. The team will then play Louisville City FC on Sunday, Feb. 16, at 10 p.m. ET, followed by Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC on Monday, Feb. 17, at noon ET.
Tormenta FC uses its academy to develop youth in the region. Grant Hampton and Stephen O’Hearn, who are competing in the USL Academy Cup this weekend, recently made their first-team debuts during Tormenta FC’s preseason match against Charlotte Independence this past Wednesday.
Tormenta FC assistant coach Ian Cameron will be leading the U17 side this weekend for the tournament.
