STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC Academy’s U13, U15 and U19 Boys and U19 Girls teams competed in the 2022 USL Academy Cup this weekend, with the teams impressing and representing Tormenta FC with honor and heads held high.
Tormenta FC’s U19 Girls were placed in Group B, which consisted of NC Fusion, Chattanooga Red Wolves FC and West Virginia United. One win, two losses and one tie saw them end the tournament 7th overall.
TFC Academy sent three teams to participate in the Boys’ Premier Divisions. The U13 Boys topped group A with 6 points, securing a spot in the final against Greenville Triumph SC. In the final, the U13 Boys gave a good fight but came up short in a 2-1 defeat.
A big 5-0 win against FA Euro secured the team’s only win of the group stage. The U15 Boys bring back a 5th place finish after defeating Nona FC 2-0.
The U19 Boys team topped its group after an undefeated group stage, where they came out with two wins and a tie. A 2-1 win against Detroit City FC and a 2-0 win against East Atlanta FC sealed first place in the group stage for Tormenta FC’s U19 Boys and secured a spot in the final of the cup. The U19 group ended up as the cup runner-ups after a tough match against Southern Soccer Academy.
