Tormenta FC Signs Conner Antley to 2019 USL League One Team
Conner Antley has signed with South Georgia Tormenta FC for its 2019 USL League One season, pending league and federation approval. The 6’0, 180-pound defender, who comes from Newnan, Georgia, played for Tormenta FC in 2018, helping the team clinch its first Division championship title.
“Conner is a fantastic signing for us,” head coach John Miglarese said. “He was a major catalyst in our success this past year in the PDL and has proven that he is more than ready for the professional game.”
“We are delighted to have him as he turned down some other opportunities to sign with us,” said Miglarese. “His athleticism and will to win mixed with his ability on the ball will surely make him someone to watch this season.”
Antley attended Mercer University and graduated in December 2017 with a degree in Business Management. He served as the Mercer University men’s soccer team captain, helping the team clinch the Southern Conference championships twice. While at Mercer, Antley was an All-Southern Conference first-team player twice and made two NCAA tournament appearances.
Before coming to Tormenta FC, the defender played for the Seattle Sounders in 2017. While with the Sounders, Antley was a top 50 PDL player. In 2018, he was on the PDL National Team of the Week twice and was the National Player of the Week once.
“I could not be happier to sign with this club,” said Antley. “Having played in the PDL with them last season, I was able to see first hand the professional environment that is created for the players. From the ownership down to coach John, they make you feel like family, and it’s a place my wife and I are excited to call home.”
