STATESBORO, Ga. – Nearly 1,000 players from fourteen elite youth soccer clubs across Georgia, South Carolina and Florida battled this weekend in Statesboro for South Georgia Tormenta FC’s 2020 Fall Shootout, presented by J.C. Lewis Ford.
The tournament consisted of fifteen divisions ranging from boys and girls U10 to U19. TFC Academy’s 09G Magenta, TFC 09G Ibis, TFC 07 Girls, TFC 05/06B Statesboro and TFC 09B Magenta teams were named champions of their divisions while TFC 09B Ibis, TFC 04B Magenta and TFC 02/03B Magenta all were finalists in their respective divisions.
It was an action-packed weekend with a total of 124 total matches being played an an impressive 623 goals scored by countless young standouts.
The U13/14 Boys Division Championship ended in a thrilling penalty shootout between two James Island Youth Soccer Club teams with their 07 Boys eventually taking down their 08 Boys 2-1.
“The Tormenta FC Fall Shootout was a great success, especially as a tournament in its first year,” TFC Academy Chief of Staff Jennifer Hampton said. “The facilities at The Clubhouse and Mill Creek Regional Park were in fantastic shape and allowed the athletes to shine. We were able to show the southeast region what a great soccer city Statesboro is, and we look forward to growing the event in the coming years.”
Tormenta FC looks forward to continuing to grow the sport of soccer and bringing talent to South Georgia. The Academy’s next tournament, the Tournament of Terror, kicks off this Friday, Oct. 30.
