South Georgia Tormenta FC's Academy has not one but two titles to celebrate this fall, as the TFC 2004 Boys Navy team won the 2020 South Carolina Open League fall title to add to the South Carolina State Challenge League fall title.
Earning a 10-1-0 record and scoring 27 goals, the U17 Boys team came together to form a strong, technical team on the field.
"These boys have taken their personal diversity and turned it into success," TFC 2004 Boys Navy Head Coach Jon Ferguson said. "The players and parents realized from the first games that this team had that something special, that intangible quality of working together, the electricity on the field. They have something together. You hear every boy talking about 'my team.' You can see by their stats that there was evenness of skills, contribution from all positions and total team effort.
"One of the major strengths of this team has been their chemistry and their willingness to learn and adapt. From the very first day, these players talked to each other about developing their chemistry together. They have all had a great attitude, always helping each other."

Ferguson, who holds a U.S. Soccer "D" License, United Soccer Coaches Advanced Diplomas and Coerver Coaching’s Youth Diploma, has 22 years of coaching under his belt.
He credits the core team's ability to mesh with guest players from different teams within the club as a significant factor to the team's overall success.
"There has never been a sense of competition between the players," Ferguson said. "Each player is well-rounded in basic skills. They have had to play with a short roster the entire season and have had to supplement every game with guest players each game. That is indicative of the intuitive nature and skills the athletes and the coach to perform with unknown players.
"This team is unique. This mix was an unknown quantity with young men who had something to show. Their bonding was immediate, teamwork was cemented and their chemistry was evident before they took the field the first day."
Six different players scored at least four goals throughout the campaign, with Anderson Jones (eight goals) and Colton Beine (six goals) leading the way. On the defensive end, the team looked compact and sturdy, recording five clean sheets following a shaky start to the season.
"They lost their first game, playing games that first weekend, and ended up the second weekend taking second place in the Myrtle Beach Preseason Soccer Classic. They have not lost since then and finished at the top of their bracket in their Open League Division."
