STATESBORO, Ga. – In an end to end match tonight versus Charlotte Independence 2, South Georgia Tormenta FC 2 suffered its first loss tonight 2-1 at Manchester Meadows in Rock Hill, South Carolina.
The Independence 2 scored first tonight, slotting a goal to the top right of the goal where goalkeeper Ryan Troutman couldn’t get a hand on it. French midfielder Alexis Ledoux then tied up the match in the 25th minute off an assist from midfielder Gabriel Cabral. After the halftime break, there were more chances on both sides until Charlotte scored off a through ball to top TFC 2 2-1.
Tonight’s Man of the Match, presented by Galactic Comics and Games, is midfielder Alexis Ledoux who scored the lone goal of the night and controlled the midfield.
Next week Tormenta FC 2 returns to Erk Russell Park for a two-match home streak against the Dalton Red Wolves and Peachtree City MOBA on Tuesday, May 25 and Friday, May 28 at 7 p.m. Tormenta FC encourages masks to be worn per CDC guidance and urges fans to purchase their tickets, including season tickets, half-season plans or quarter-season plans, in advance.
The 14-match League Two season will spread across 10 weeks of regular season play culminating on the road against the Red Wolves Friday, July 9. This pre-professional league will offer players the chance to hone in on crucial technical and tactical skills before making the leap to the professional level. Coach Morris hopes to create an environment for young guys to grow as players, as well as be recruited by the Tormenta FC’s League One team. Since beginning play in 2016, TFC 2 has helped nearly 50 players achieve their professional dreams.
