STATESBORO, Ga. – During the May 8 road match against the Richmond Kickers, German midfielder Adrian Billhardt subbed off in the 20th minute after sustaining a knee injury. After closer examination and tests by Optim Health System and Tormenta FC medical staff, the club regrets to announce that Billhardt tore his ACL and will be forced to sit out for the remainder of the USL League One season.
The talented midfielder’s recovery process will continue to be assessed and will determine when he can return back to the pitch. Billhardt had already notched one assist this season and was searching for his first professional goal, ranking fourth in the club records for goals scored with 11 during his time with Tormenta FC 2.
“Words can’t even begin to describe the sadness and emptiness that I feel at this moment knowing the season is over for me,” Billhardt said. “I know for a fact that this knee injury will make me much stronger, physically as well as mentally. I’m very thankful for all the positive messages I received from everyone involved with the club as well as fans, it really helps staying positive in these times. But injuries are part of the sport and there’s not much else to do other than making sure I get back to where I was as fast as I can.”
