
STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC has revealed the four nominees for the Tormenta FC Player of the Month award for June, and the community will decide the winner. Marco Micaletto, Luca Mayr-Fälten, Joshua Phelps and Curtis Thorn are all up for the award after helping Tormenta FC to a four-match win streak and its first three clean sheets of the 2021 USL League One season.
Voting for the Tormenta FC Player of the Month award will run through Monday, July 12, at 11:59 p.m. ET, with voting permitted once per day. The winner will be determined via a weighted vote from the following three voting bodies:

Luca Mayr-Fälten, Midfielder: The Austrian creative assisted two goals during Tormenta FC’s 3-1 domination against Greenville Triumph SC. Mayr-Fälten recorded 17 chances created in June and leads USL League One with a total of 28.
Mayr-Fälten is also league forerunner in shots and crosses with 22 and 77, respectively. The midfielder also consistently helps out on the defensive end and recorded six interceptions, six clearances and five tackles this month.
Marco Micaletto, Midfielder: The Italian game-maker ranks second in USL League One for shots with 27 and recorded 16 of those during the month of June. In addition to scoring a game-winning goal versus Toronto FC II on the road June 9 and a late goal versus Greenville Triumph SC at home June 19, Micaletto also helped Azaad Liadi to his first professional goal on June 5 against the Chattanooga Red Wolves.
On the defensive side, Micaletto recorded 10 tackles, 6 interceptions and 6 blocked shots on the defensive side.
Joshua Phelps, Defender: The Australian fan-favorite led from the back to help Tormenta FC to its first three clean sheets of the 2021 season. Phelps made 23 clearances inside the box and recorded seven interceptions and five tackles. The former forward also helped create one scoring chance and notched one shot.
Curtis Thorn, Defender: The English defender played an important role in securing the club’s first three clean sheets of the 2021 season, while also assisting Marco Micaletto’s late games-winner versus Toronto FC II on June 9.
Thorn won nearly all of his aerial duels in June with nine out of 11 and recorded 13 clearances, seven interceptions and six tackles. Offensively, he notched one shot and created one scoring opportunity.
