STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC 2 has announced midfielder Jalen James to its 2022 USL League Two roster, pending league and federation approval. A 2021 USL League Two Top Prospect, James joins the squad under Head Coach Tom Morris as he aspires for a fourth USL League Two title run.
James plays collegiately for Campbell University and is coming off an award-winning season where he earned spots on the All-Big South Conference First Team and the All-South Region Second Team. In 2021, the midfielder started in eight games and scored four goals, helping the Fighting Camels reach the first round of the NCAA Tournament against No. 27 Virginia Tech.
“Jalen is an electric attacking player that the Tormenta fans are going to love watching. He combines excellent technical ability in tight spaces, along with pace and power which can cause a fright for any defense that he’s up against.” Head Coach Tom Morris commented.
Jalen has been a key part of the Campbell University Men’s soccer program that has become a national contender in recent years. Jalen was #14 in the USL 2 Top 50 Prospects last year, and our staff sees the pro potential he has and is keen to work with him this summer to see if we can maximize it.”
The midfielder also brings USL League Two experience with him to Statesboro after competing with the Mississippi Brilla in 2021, playing 13 games and scoring six goals.
“Joining Tormenta for the 2022 season was an easy decision because I believe this will be the best atmosphere for me to grow as a person and help me develop into a mature player,” James commented. “I’m looking forward to playing alongside my new teammates and helping my team win a championship.”

The club looks forward to opening its new 5,300-seat stadium in Statesboro this year, which will serve as home to the club’s USL League One, League Two and W League squads, as well as Georgia Southern University Men’s and Women’s NCAA Division I soccer teams.
