STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC has announced its inaugural USL W League schedule ahead of kickoff in May 2022. The club opens its historic W League campaign at home on Saturday, May 14, against SC United Bantams and looks to harness an electric atmosphere in front of Tormenta Nation.
Tormenta FC’s 2022 W League campaign features 12 fixtures with six home matches in Statesboro and six matches to be played on the road.
“The summer of 2022 will be a thrilling time for South Georgia Tormenta FC and for our dedicated supporters,” W League Head Coach Jim Robbins commented. “I’m excited to finally kick off our inaugural W League season and play in a challenging Deep South Division against some quality opponents within the region.
“Our commitment to the club and our supporters is to field a highly competitive roster of the most talented players in the women’s game and to compete for the USL W National Championship on an annual basis. We look forward to playing a sophisticated possession game in our new stadium, and we cannot wait to showcase the talent that our players have on the pitch. It truly will be a memorable year for the USL W League and for South Georgia Tormenta FC.”
Tormenta FC is set to compete in the USL W League Deep South Division, facing familiar League One and League Two clubs like the Chattanooga Red Wolves SC, Peachtree City MOBA, South Carolina United Bantams and Southern Soccer Academy, as well as new opponents like Tennessee Soccer Club.
As excitement for the USL W League kickoff builds, Tormenta FC continues to construct its roster with a mix of local and national talent with more announcements to come. The most recent addition of decorated goalkeeper Sydney Martinez reinforces the current lineup of forwards Elise Holcey, Remi Olalere and Amy Andrews and midfielder Madison Foshee.
The club looks forward to welcoming Tormenta Nation to its new 5,300-seat stadium set to open its doors in 2022. Supporters can now purchase season tickets in advance to guarantee their spot at every home match, available with 12-month payment plans. For families and new fans, the club also offers Flex Ticket packages which include ten General Admission or VIP tickets redeemable at any regular-season home match.
