STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC has announced the addition of goalkeeper Makenna Gottschalk to its 2022 USL W League roster, pending league and federation approval.
“Makenna is a very explosive GK who can make all the saves. Her starting positions are always very good, and she is excellent at covering her entire goal. She can make the point-blank, reaction saves look easy too. She is a strong vocal leader and can organize and command her team in all phases of the game. She has all the tools to be very successful at the USL W level and beyond.”
Jim Robbins, Tormenta FC USL W League Head Coach
Gottschalk currently plays at New Mexico State University where she has made a total of 59 saves for the Aggies and ended the season with a .711 save percentage throughout her Junior year. Gottschalk was also named an All-WAC Honorable Mention and All-WAC Defensive Player of the Week in 2021.
Prior to New Mexico, Gottschalk spent two seasons with Daytona State College and recorded 65 saves throughout her time with the institution.
“I can’t wait to get started with Tormenta FC USL W team this summer to build a name for the women’s side of the club. I’m really excited to meet the players and coaches as well as move into the town of Statesboro. I think we are going to have great competition in a fun environment and play to win a championship title!”
