STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta 2 has announced the addition of defenders Carter Payne and Ryan Ludwick to its 2022 USL League Two roster, pending league and federation approval. Payne hails from the Big Ten Conference, one of the top collegiate conferences in the United States, and Ludwick brings experience and leadership as a member of the Stanford University Men’s Soccer program and community.
Payne brings two seasons of playing experience at the University of Michigan, holding down the backline for 18 matches in 2019 and 2020. The defender spent the 2021 USL League Two season with PDX FC where he played in seven matches and 585 minutes for the Oregon-based club. While on the pitch, Payne helped the PDX defense record one clean sheet and aided the team to a second-place standing in the Northwest Division.
I decided to join Tormenta FC 2 so I could continue to develop as a football player and as a person in their professional environment,” Payne commented. “Tormenta FC 2’s unique environment helped make my decision easy whilst deciding where the best program was to put me in the best position to achieve my goal of playing football professionally.”

“I’m excited to join TFC 2 this summer to compete and win games,” Ludwick said. “I’m excited to improve as a player and to continue to improve my skills.”
