STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC has announced the addition of forward Elis Nemtsov and midfielder Isabel Kopp to its 2022 USL W League roster, pending league and federation approval. The Georgia Southern University women’s soccer standouts will stay in Statesboro this summer to compete for a W League trophy under Head Coach Jim Robbins.
“Elis is another proven goalscorer who can play as a striker, wide player, or attacking midfielder in our system. She is very good with the ball at her feet and she can beat opponents off the dribble and create chances for herself in and around the box.”
Jim Robbins, Tormenta FC Head Coach
“Nemtsov can also play in combination with teammates, and she moves well without the ball,” Robbins said. “She will be difficult to contain and defend, and I am confident that she will score goals for Tormenta FC at this level. I look forward to watching her put balls in the back of the net this summer.”
Nemtsov, 20, helped spark Georgia Southern’s offensive fuel with goals and assists as a redshirt freshman. In 2021, Nemtsov played and started in 19 games for Southern, scoring eight goals, the second-highest goal scorer on the team. As a two-time Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week and a member of the First Team All-Sun Belt Conference, Nemtsov seeks to continue crafting her talent in the 912 this summer.
Nemtsov has previously trained with the Israel Women’s National Team and was called up to represent the U17 and U19 Israeli national teams.
Joining Nemtsov, Isabel Kopp is one of the pillars of Georgia Southern’s defense, having played 22 matches during her first year with the program.
“Isabel is a versatile left-footed player who can play either as an attacking back or a wide player in our system. She can also play as an inverted winger on the right to challenge an outside back to defend her when cutting inside. She is quick with the ball and makes great decisions when in possession.”
Jim Robbins, Tormenta FC Head Coach
“Kopp can play fast with one touch when needed, dribble out of pressure and beat opponents when necessary,” Robbins said. “She will bring a different skill set to our team and give us more options when we go forward. She will be another exciting player on our team to watch this summer.”
Prior to Southern, Kopp played two years with back-to-back NJCAA Division I National Championships at Tyler Junior College in 2019 and 2020-21. A native of Haarlem, Netherlands, Kopp has made Statesboro her second home and will be competing to bring Statesboro its first W League title.
In June of 2021, Tormenta FC was named a founding member of the USL W League, an elite pre-professional pathway for women looking to build their careers both on and off the pitch. In alignment with the USL League Two season, the W League will kick off in May and end with the W League Playoffs and W League Final in late July.
