STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC’s USL W League team has announced the four nominees for the Tormenta FC Player of the Month award for June, and the community will help decide the winner.
Forward Amy Andrews, goalkeeper Sydney Martinez, midfielder Jenae Packard and defender Abby Wolf are all up for the award after a superb month of June that saw them win four, draw twice and only lose once. Tormenta FC currently sits first in the W League’s South Central Division.
Voting for the Tormenta FC Player of the Month award will run through Monday, July 11, at 11:59 p.m. ET, with voting permitted once per day. The winner will be determined via a weighted vote from the following three voting bodies:
- A fan vote (poll below) will comprise 60 percent of the poll.
- The Tormenta FC staff ballots will comprise 20 percent of the poll.
- Media ballots comprise 20 percent of the poll.
Voting results will be announced on Tuesday, July 12.
Player of the Month Nominees:
Sydney Martinez, Goalkeeper: As team captain, Martinez has led Tormenta FC on and off the pitch this month. While between the sticks, Martinez earned two clean sheets and only allowed four goals in 495 minutes of action.
Abby Wolf, Defender: Wolf has impressed in the backline since arriving to South Georgia. A constant threat on the wing, Wolf commits to defending every game while being a menace to opposing defenses.
Jenae Packard, Midfielder: Packard has established herself as the midfielder who influences the game in a positive way. The senior out of Pacific has established herself as one of the best players in the division. Packard’s ability to control the midfield and create opportunities stand out.
Amy Andrews, Forward: Andrews scored nine goals and recorded two assists in June. Andrews has cemented herself in the Tormenta FC record books with most goals scored in a game after netting four in South Georgia’s victory over Tennessee SC.
