STATESBORO, Ga. – The inaugural USL W League South Central Division winner, South Georgia Tormenta FC, starts its playoff journey against FC Miami City this Wednesday, July 13, at 6 p.m. ET from Tropical Park Stadium. With a win on Wednesday, South Georgia would face the winner of the match between Greenville Liberty SC and the Long Island Rough Riders.
South Georgia continues to prove why it is one of the best teams in the nation. An 8-0 win in its final game of the regular season saw the team break its own record for the largest margin of victory in Tormenta FC history. Braces from Amy Andrews and Elis Nemtsov and goals from Jenae Packard, Ella Owen, Bridget Schuler and Kelly Giddes were more than enough for a team heading into the playoffs with something to prove.
In one of the toughest divisions in the country, Tormenta FC finished a point above the Chattanooga Lady Red Wolves. A race to the last minute, South Georgia was able to pull it off and leave the Lady Red Wolves celebrating their second place finish.
Andrews finished the season as the highest goal scorer for Tormenta FC. Scoring 16 goals in 10 games played made her average a goal every 53rd minute. With sixteen goals, Andrews leads the league in goals and has set numerous records at Tormenta FC.
FC Miami City took the Southeast Division by storm. An undefeated season with only one tie has Miami City looking as the favorite to make it to the final four. A 0-2 win on the road against last place Caledonia SC saw it end the season with its ninth win of the season.

In June of 2021, Tormenta FC was named a founding member of the USL W League, an elite pre-professional pathway for women looking to build their careers both on and off the pitch. For two decades between 1995 and 2015, the W League saw some of the biggest names past and present in the sport compete on the field, and this new era will build on the legacy of its predecessor. In alignment with the USL League Two season, the W League will kick off in May and end with the W League Playoffs and W League Final in late July.
