STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC’s Amy Andrews has officially been named the USL W League Player of the Year for 2022. The Player of the Year was decided by fans, coaches and technical staff and USL Executives – with each group being awarded one third of the overall vote. The 2022 Golden Boot winner becomes the first player in club history to win a Player of the Year award. Andrews led the league with 16 goals in 10 matches and helped the team win the South Central Division title.
“What a tremendous honor for Amy and Tormenta FC. Her statistics prove she has been a lethal goal scorer all summer. She possesses all the tools to score goals at the highest level. She is quick, fast, technical and can score in various ways and from different areas in and around the penalty area. Amy knows and does her job on the field but always credits her teammates with finding her and providing her with the proper pass at the proper time.”
Tormenta FC Head Coach Jim Robbins said.
“Andrews is humble, but she always puts in the extra work on the field and video review. She is a true professional. It has been an honor to have her on our team this year, and I look forward to her continued progress in the game over the next couple of years. AA7 and Tormenta FC in 2022 were perfect together.”
The South Georgia forward averaged a goal every 53 minutes, proving to be the most lethal striker in the USL W League. Tormenta FC scored 34 goals during the regular season, and Andrews was responsible for half of Tormenta FC’s goals this season. Additionally, Andrews recorded five braces, the most in the league, and led her team to a 7-1-4 record.
“To win Player of the Year means everything to me. At the beginning of the season, Coach Jim and I sat down to discuss our goals, two of which have been accomplished. I know what I can do, and I’m proud of myself for winning the award. In addition, I want to thank the team for helping me throughout the season.”

“The personal awards mean a lot, but winning the organization’s first title would mean much more. This club is incredible, the best I have ever been a part of, and we deserve nothing more than to lift that trophy on Saturday night in Minnesota.”
Andrews continues to assert her dominance in the USL W League Playoffs after scoring three goals in two games. Andrews scored the game-winning goal in the quarterfinal clash against FC Miami City in Miami, Florida, and netted her sixth brace for the club against Greenville Liberty SC in a 1-4 semifinal win on Sunday night in Greenville, South Carolina.
Now, Andrews aims to culminate her record-breaking, goal-scoring season with a national title as Tormenta FC’s W League team travels to take on the Minnesota Aurora in the W League Final. Be on the lookout for more information regarding the playoff schedule by visiting USLWLeague.com.
