STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC travels to Knoxville, Tennessee, to take on One Knoxville SC for the first time in the professional team’s history this Friday, April 21, at 6 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Tormenta FC will look for its second road win of the season after beating North Carolina FC in match Week One of the 2023 regular season. In its second road game of the season, South Georgia fell to Lexington SC in the teams first-ever encounter.
Last Saturday, South Georgia visited Lexington, Kentucky, where the team fell to the home side 2-1. South Georgia found its only goal of the game from a Jackson Khoury penalty kick conversion.
Last year, while still competing in USL League Two, One Knoxville visited Statesboro to face Tormenta FC 2, which fell to the Tennessee side 2-3. During that match, Tormenta FC 2 alums JC Ngando (now with the Vancouver Whitecaps) and Tiago Lopes scored for the pre-professional Statesboro side. The game marks the only game played between both organizations.
Tormenta FC has added 2022 USL League One champion Ryan Sierakowski to its 2023 roster on a 25-day contract. To note, Arthur Bosua’s injury rehabilitation continues with the forward looking to get back into the roster in the coming month. Defender Jake Dengler is also expected to be back soon. Kazaiah Sterling remains questionable.
Tormenta FC faces a tough opponent in One Knoxville, which has had a decent start to its first-ever professional season. Currently sitting in eighth place with four points, One Knox will look to obtain its second victory at home against the reigning USL League One champion.
Following Friday’s match, Tormenta FC will go on the road for its third consecutive road game to take on Major League Soccer’s Charlotte FC in the Third Round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. Following its Open Cup fixture, Tormenta FC will host the Richmond Kickers on Saturday, April 29, at 7:30 p.m ET from Optim Sports Medicine Field at Tormenta Stadium.
