STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC is set to return to USL League One action 15 days after obtaining a crucial win against Chattanooga Red Wolves SC. Tormenta FC is looking to add its third consecutive win against the Fresno side on the road on Saturday night and is looking to add three points to continue its pursuit of first place while having a game in hand on North Carolina FC and the Charlotte Independence. Saturday’s game is set to kick off on ESPN+ at 10 p.m. ET from Fresno State Soccer Stadium.
In Tormenta FC’s first eight games of the League One season, the Statesboro side was able to come out with four wins and four defeats, while maintaining four clean sheets. South Georgia will aim to continue its winning ways this Saturday after defeating Chattanooga in its last match.
Against Central Valley, Tormenta FC will look to capitalize through speed and strong pressing in the final third. South Georgia’s strong defensive presence will also play a critical part in the team’s success on Saturday with the entire backline being available for selection.
Central Valley has not had the best start to its season. The Fresno side currently sits last in the League One standings, earning only one win and one draw while losing five. Its only win came against Chattanooga on April 1. The Fresno side is currently on a four-game losing streak, and the team has suffered three consecutive red cards in its last three games.
Arthur Bosua will be available for selection after a nine-month recovery period. The South African forward suffered a season-ending ACL and meniscus tear during Tormenta FC’s home match against FC Tucson on May 28, 2022.
To note, midfielder Matheus Cassini suffered a clavicle fracture three weeks ago during a Tormenta FC training session. Cassini underwent surgical intervention to address the collarbone fracture. Cassini will now begin a period of rehabilitation.
Midfielders Kingsford Adjei and Pedro Fonseca and forward Kazaiah Sterling are still recovering from previous injuries, making them unavailable for selection this weekend. Ryan Sierakowski has departed the club following the conclusion of his short-term contract.
Following Saturday’s match, Tormenta FC is set to take on the Richmond Kickers from Optim Sports Medicine Field at Tormenta Stadium next Saturday, May 27, at 7:30 p.m. ET on Military Appreciation Night.
