FRESNO, Ca. – South Georgia Tormenta FC battled until the last minute in tonight’s 3-2 loss against Central Valley Fuego FC. Arthur Bosua and Tobias Otieno were the goalscorers for the Statesboro side. Arthur Bosua scored his first goal of the season in his first start for Tormenta FC after 357 days since suffering an ACL tear against FC Tucson on May 28, 2022.
Despite going down early in the eighth minute of the match, South Georgia showed resilience and quickly regained control of the game. Tormenta FC created numerous scoring opportunities but was unable to convert any earlier on.
In the 38th minute of the match, though, Nick Akoto embarked on a superb run to the corner flag and delivered a precise cross into the penalty area. Arthur Bosua connected with a well-executed header, placing the ball into the opposite side of the goalkeeper’s net, leaving him with no chance to react.
Coming into the second half, Fuego FC was awarded a penalty kick, which Othoniel Arce converted in the 53rd minute of the match.

This home team goal boosted the visiting team’s confidence, and Tormenta FC continued to dominate into the second half with the equalizer coming just two minutes following the home team’s second goal. Akale started the play on the left side of the pitch after taking on two Fuego FC defenders to secure a cross into Bosua, who was unable to get his shot past the opposing team’s goalkeeper. A rebound was found in the penalty area, and midfielder Otieno placed a powerful shot to the back of the keeper’s net, netting his first goal of the season.
Midfielders Otieno and Chris Heckenberg showcased excellent distribution skills, constantly providing the forwards with scoring chances.
Fuego FC was able to score the game winning goal in the 91st minute of the match.
Following Saturday’s match, Tormenta FC is set to take on the Richmond Kickers from Optim Sports Medicine Field at Tormenta Stadium next Saturday, May 27, at 7:30 p.m. ET on Military Appreciation Night.
