STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC returns home this Saturday, May 27, to take on the Richmond Kickers from Optim Sports Medicine Park at Tormenta Stadium at 7:30 p.m ET during Military Appreciation Night. Tormenta FC takes on the Kickers for the second time in 2023 after falling to the Richmond side in late April.
South Georgia Tormenta FC battled until the last minute in last week’s 3-2 loss against Central Valley Fuego FC. Arthur Bosua and Tobias Otieno were the goalscorers for the Statesboro side. Arthur Bosua scored his first goal of the season in his first start for Tormenta FC after 357 days since suffering an ACL tear against FC Tucson on May 28, 2022.
Despite defeat on the West Coast last Saturday, South Georgia showed resiliency and dominated possession, while limiting the Fuego FC offensive side. Tormenta FC created numerous scoring opportunities throughout the fixture; however, the team was unable to show it on the scoreline.
South Georgia will aim to have a better showing against the Kickers this time around following a 1-3 defeat at home in late April. South Georgia will look to obtain a positive result against a Richmond side that is coming into the game following a 2-1 win against first-year team Lexington SC.
Midfielders Kingsford Adjei and Matheus Cassini are still recovering from previous injuries, making them unavailable for selection this weekend.
Following Saturday’s match, Tormenta FC is set to travel to Greenville, South Carolina, for another edition of the Peach States Derby next Saturday, June 3, at 7 p.m. ET from Paladin Stadium.
