STATESBORO, Ga. – In the final home match of the 2023 USL W League season, South Georgia Tormenta FC is playing host to Southern Soccer Academy on Monday night at 7:30 p.m. ET from Optim Sports Medicine Field at Tormenta Stadium. The two sides met in May, playing to a 0-0 draw in the season opener for the Statesboro side.
Tormenta FC outclassed North Alabama SC last Thursday night in Harvest, Alabama. A seven-minute hat trick from Kiana Jacobson and a second-half brace from Taylor Golden helped the Statesboro side to an eventual 7-0 win. With the result, South Georgia sits at fourth place in the South Central Division on 15 points, boasting a 4-3-3 (W-L-D) record.
Smith Cathey and Celine Ottah remain out for Tormenta FC going into Monday night’s matchup with SSA. Defender Sarah Hagg, who did not make the trip to Alabama, is expected to be available for the contest. Head Coach Jim Robbins will look to help his squad maintain the scoring prowess and defensive solidarity from the match against North Alabama to earn all three points tomorrow night.
Last time out, SSA suffered a 4-0 defeat at home to Chattanooga Lady Red Wolves SC. The Atlanta side went into the break trailing by one goal before three late second-half finishes assured all three points would go back to Chattanooga. Through nine games played, SSA sits in fifth place in the division with 11 points.
SSA Head Coach Jordan Davis will look to have his team bounce back after the disappointing second half to Chattanooga in Monday night’s contest with South Georgia.

In June of 2021, Tormenta FC was named a founding member of the USL W League, an elite pre-professional pathway for women looking to build their careers both on and off the pitch.
