STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC’s USL W League team has announced the four nominees for the Tormenta FC Player of the Month award for June, and the community will help decide the winner.
Defenders Roisin McGovern and Emma Tucker, midfielder Gemma Jefferson and forward Kiana Jacobson are all up for the award after a superb month of June that saw them win five, draw once and lose twice.
Voting for the Tormenta FC Player of the Month award will run through Wednesday, July 12, at 11:59 p.m. ET, with voting permitted once per day. The winner will be determined via a weighted vote from the following three voting bodies:
- A fan vote (poll below) will comprise 60 percent of the poll.
- The Tormenta FC staff ballots will comprise 20 percent of the poll.
- Media ballots comprise 20 percent of the poll.
Voting results will be announced on Thursday, July 13.
Player of the Month Nominees:
Roisin McGovern, Defender: McGovern has proven to be a strong defensive presence, helping Tormenta FC get 15 points in the month of June, while only conceding five goals in eight games.
Emma Tucker, Defender: A constant threat on the wing, Tucker commits to defending every game while being a menace to opposing defenses. Tucker finished the season first in assists for Tormenta FC with four. Tucker has also contributed with several goals scored throughout the season.
Gemma Jefferson, Midfielder: Jefferson established herself as the midfielder for Tormenta FC. Jefferson has impressed throughout her time at Tormenta FC and won Tormenta FC’s USL W League Player of the Month for May. Jefferson’s ability to control the midfield and create opportunities allowed her to stand out.
Kiana Jacobson, Forward: Jacobson led Tormenta FC in goals scored this season with five. Jacobson became the third player in Tormenta FC history to score a hat trick. Jacobson scored the hat trick against North Alabama SC on June 22.
