STATESBORO, Ga. – In an important 2023 USL League One regular season matchup, South Georgia Tormenta FC will host One Knoxville SC at 7:30 p.m. ET from Optim Sports Medicine Field at Tormenta Stadium in Statesboro, Georgia, on Friday, Sept. 1 (ESPN+). South Georgia won the first and only meeting between the two professional sides, recording a 2-0 result in Tennessee on April 21.
Tormenta FC enters Friday’s contest with a 9-11-5 (W-L-D) overall record and the best offense across the league. South Georgia has scored 47 goals to date, six more than Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC in second place. Leading the way in the attack, Kazaiah Sterling has recorded 12 goals thus far in his second season with TFC, while Mukwelle Akale has eight goals to his name.

One Knoxville, meanwhile, has only scored 29 goals in 2023 and enters the match with a 8-9-8 overall record. Knoxville is tied for second across the league in fouls committed and leads the league in yellow cards received with 74 on the season. The visiting side will likely look to one of three players to produce a spark and get a goal, with Jake Keegan, Frank Ross and Ilija Ilic posing a threat to the TFC back line.
Following Friday’s match, Tormenta FC turns its attention to back-to-back road matchups. First, the South Georgia side will head west to play Northern Colorado on Sunday, Sept. 10 (ESPN+). Then, Tormenta FC will head to Cary, North Carolina, for a second time this season to play North Carolina FC on Saturday, Sept. 16 (ESPN+).
