STATESBORO, Ga. (December 27, 2023) South Georgia Tormenta FC is excited to announce the signing of Glasgow native, Daniel Steedman. The 23-year-old joins the club as a free agent, having played most recently played for North Carolina FC during the 2021 season.
The 5-foot-10 midfielder was announced by North Carolina FC on August 27, 2021, where he finished the 2021 season. Steedman started seven out of the eight remaining USL League One games.
Prior to the move to North Carolina, Steedman played for for Atlanta United 2 in the USL Championship. During his time with the club, he made 12 appearances.
Daniel played college soccer at the University of Virginia. He enjoyed two years with the Cavaliers where he made 37 appearances and scored five goals. During his college career, Steedman was an ACC Regular Season Champion, an ACC Tournament Champion, NCAA Tournament Finalist, was part of the NCAA Team of the Tournament, and was a member of the 2018-2019 All ACC Freshman Team.
Steedman began his career with the Charlotte Independence, signing an amateur contract at 17 years old. The midfielder made two appearances in the USL Championship for Charlotte before enrolling at the University of Virginia.
“Daniel has the ability to link play between the build up and final third really well. He has pictures of the field in his mind and has the calmness to evade pressure in equal measure,” said head coach Ian Cameron. “He’s a guy our forward line will really enjoy playing with this year. He also has the engine and willingness to press the opposition and force turnovers, a characteristic we always need from our midfield.”
Steedman spoke on the move to the Tormenta FC saying, “Im really excited to join the club. I like the way the club play and I think I’ll fit into the system well. I think Ian will challenge me and get the best out of me as we get to know each other more and the team.”
