STATESBORO, Ga – April 23, 2024—South Georgia Tormenta FC is delighted to welcome back goalkeeper Cora Brendle. Brendle will return to the 912 after completing another season with the University of South Carolina Upstate Spartans. She has transferred to Utah State University to spend her final year of college eligibility with the Aggies.
“I am super excited to be rejoining Tormenta FC for the 2024 season,” said the South Carolina native. “The atmosphere is something very special to be a part of, and I love the support from the fans. It is a great place to be to watch women in sport grow!”
Brendle had one of her best seasons in college with the Spartans, playing a career-high 1,677 minutes. The keeper also saved 55 shots and tied her career-high with six shutouts on the season. For her efforts in the 2023 season, Brendle was awarded the Big South Goalkeeper of the Year, All-Conference First, and Tournament team.
Brendle and the Spartans’ great season ended when they lost in the semifinals to the Big South Tournament winners, Radford Highlanders.
Head Coach Jim Robbins had high praise for the goalkeeper, “Cora had a great season for us last summer, and we are looking forward to having her play with us again this year. She is an excellent goalkeeper and has all the tools to be successful at the highest levels of the game. She has great hands, can make all the saves, and is very good with the ball at her feet. She is also a quiet leader who has earned the respect of her teammates with her drive, commitment, and work ethic. All qualities that we value here at Tormenta FC.”
