STATESBORO, Ga. – May 1, 2024 – South Georgia Tormenta FC has announced defender Sarah Hagg will rejoin its USL W League roster, pending league and federation approval. The defender rejoins South Georgia after playing every match for the University of Memphis this past fall.
“My decision to re-sign with Tormenta comes easily because of the trust within the club,” Hagg explained. The club’s support system and fans make this place so magical. Winning another championship would make it even more special, and we all believe in it.”
Hagg transferred to the University of Memphis for the 2023 season. With the Tigers, she played every minute of the season and guided the team to its third consecutive American Athletic Conference Championship. During her 22 starts, the Tigers maintained 13 clean sheets.
Before joining South Georgia for the 2023 USL W League season, Hagg gained valuable experience during the 2022 season with Eastern Illinois, where she played in all sixteen games. Her leadership was evident as she played a vital role in the team, achieving a school record of four straight shutouts to open the season.
Overall, Hagg appeared 30 times for Eastern Illinois, appearing in 2,622 minutes.
With Eastern Illinois, Hagg was named a second-team All-Ohio Valley Conference and featured as an Ohio Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week in 2022.
In 2022, Hagg played for the Chicago Dutch Lions FC of the USL W League, where she featured in five games and accumulated 210 minutes.
“We are excited to have Sarah back again this summer. She is a center-back who possesses great technique and can make all the passes out of the back. She also enjoys the physical side of the game and is not afraid to sacrifice herself for the good of the team. Her passion is unmatched, and she always gives 100%. She is another player who defines what it means to play for Tormenta FC.”
