STATESBORO, Ga. – May 14, 2023 – South Georgia Tormenta FC’s W League hits the road to take on Fayetteville Fury for its season opener at 7:00 p.m. May 15 at Bill Yeager Stadium.

Tormenta’s W League has not played an official, regular season match coming into Wednesday’s game. The team played against the Tormenta FC girl’s USL Academy team on Saturday, May 4 and won. Fayetteville Fury comes into the match following a loss in its home opener against Wake FC with a 0-3 score.
Key Ingredients
Returning player from the 2022 championship-winning team and 2023 captain of Tormenta FC’s W League Jhenesis Ellerbe will be a difficult opponent for Fayetteville. The right back has deep experience defending the backline and thwarting any scoring attempts.
Center attacking midfielder Momo Nakao, a new face to the W League squad, will look to net as many goals as possible. With an impressive 10 goals and 11 assists for the University of Memphis, Nakao is no stranger to skillfully slotting goals past keepers. Nakao also was a member of the U16, U17, and U19 Japanese National Team squads. She is one of two Tormenta FC players who participated in the 2018 U17 World Cup in Uruguay.

Madison Brunson, a midfielder for Fayetteville Fury, may potentially pose a threat to South Georgia. She attended Methodist University, where she netted five goals and attempted eleven shots on goal in her 2022 season.
