STATESBORO, Ga. – June 6, 2024 – South Georgia Tormenta FC’s Momo Nakao was named to May’s W League Team of the Month for her standout performance in the first month of the 2024 campaign.
Nakao was named to the team of the week bench following an impressive month-long performance where she started each match and netted two goals and made one assist. She scored the first goal of the 2024 season against Fayetteville Fury and has only continued to make waves in the W League.
The midfielder has caught the attention of many in her opening season with Tormenta FC. Nakao was recently invited to play for Streetball FC Canada in the TST Women’s Tournament with a $1 million prize.
Nakao joins Tormenta FC after spending the past three seasons with the University of Memphis, where she has made 60 appearances, scoring 10 goals and providing 11 assists. The attacking midfielder has also represented Japan, playing on the U16, U17, and U19 Youth National Teams.
Founded in 2015, Tormenta FC is a professional soccer club based in Statesboro, Georgia. Tormenta FC competes in the professional USL League One and the pre-professional USL W League, under the United Soccer League (USL) and has also established a thriving academy system throughout South Georgia and the Lowcountry of South Carolina.
