South Georgia Tormenta FC returns home to Statesboro for more USL League One action after completing its four-game away stretch. On Saturday, August 30, the squad will take on Forward Madison FC in an attempt to secure three more points.
Tormenta FC’s last bout with Forward Madison resulted in a 1-0 defeat for the Ibis. Forward Yaniv Bazini and defender Gabriel Alves both came close to scoring for South Georgia. Despite outranking the Flamingos in shots and shots on target, the Ibis were left with no points to claim.
The South Georgia squad returns home after taking on four teams in an attempt to claim points on the road. The trip started on a low note with a 2-1 defeat to FC Naples, before gaining traction in a 3-3 draw against Westchester SC. As a result, midfielder Mason Tunbridge was once again named to the League One Team of the Week for his efforts against Westchester. The Ibis got their revenge against the Richmond Kickers with a 3-2 victory over the Virginia squad, but then missed out on three points in a 2-0 loss to Chattanooga Red Wolves SC.
Forward Sebastian Vivas has been a formidable asset for Tormenta this season. In 27 appearances this season, the Argentinian striker has assisted two goals and scored five, all of which have come via headers. Having won 12 out of 31 aerial duels, he has proven to be a real aerial threat for opposing sides.
The Ibis take on one of its own, with former Tormenta midfielder John Murphy Jr. being on the Flamingos’ side in Saturday’s match. Murphy Jr. played for Tormenta in 2023, garnering one goal and one assist in 29 appearances. The midfielder joined Madison in 2024, scoring four goals and tallying one assist over the course of two years with the Wisconsin side.
Forward Madison enters Saturday’s match having played six games since their last encounter with the South Georgia squad. The Flamingos were knocked out of the USL Jägermeister Cup in a 2-1 defeat to Birmingham Legion FC. Their luck has only dwindled since then, with only three draws and two losses in the last five matches. The Wisconsin side’s latest result saw them miss out on three points in a 1-0 loss to Spokane Velocity FC. As a consequence of this, they sit 13th in the league standings, only one spot below Tormenta. Saturday’s match will be a test to see which team will come out on top, as both squads seek to reverse their fortunes in the latter half of the season.
Tormenta returns to South Georgia on Saturday, August 30, at 7:30 p.m. to take on Forward Madison in a USL League One rematch. Come out for a night of intense action as the Ibis fights to defend its home stadium. Don’t miss out and get your tickets now.
