Reid-Stephen, Kasanzu nominated for impressive performances in the regular season
South Georgia Tormenta FC is proud to announce the nomination of two players as finalists to receive awards for their stellar performances during the 2025 USL League One regular season. Defender Jackson Simba is one of three nominees for the award for Young Player of the Year, while forward Niall Reid-Stephen has been nominated for the 2025 USL League One Player of the Year award.
Jackson Simba had a strong season in Tormenta’s back line, ranking second among U-22 players with 109 clearances and winning 17 tackles at a 70.6 percent success rate while also logging 22 interceptions and 84 recoveries. The Tanzanian defender also scored once and posted an 83.4 passing accuracy rate.
The Barbados international helped push Tormenta into the postseason, as his 13 goals and seven assists led League One in goal contributions during the regular season. Reid-Stephen helped power Tormenta into the postseason with a string of eight consecutive games with a goal contribution from August 30 to October 18, during which the side posted a 7-0-1 record, while ending the season with a +6.71 Goals Added mark.
Tormenta FC will be informed of Simba and Reid-Stephen’s results on Thursday, November 13, and Friday, November 14, respectively.
