STATESBORO, Ga. – Talented right back Owen Green has been named the South Georgia Tormenta FC 2 Player of the Month for July following exceptional performances across six games in the 2021 USL League Two regular season and League Two Playoffs.
Green scored Tormenta FC 2's two fastest League Two goals in club history during the month of July and created countless scoring opportunities for the team in the League Two Playoffs. On July 6, Green netted the fastest goal (1:21) for Tormenta FC 2 in USL League Two competition, heading in a shot following a Jacob Evans cross. Three days later, Green chipped a shot up and over the Dalton Red Wolves SC goalkeeper for the second fastest League Two goal (2:11)
The young defender earned 48.6% of the total vote, edging out forward Hattabiou Brry, who earned 32.4%. Defender Mohamed Redjeb collected 11.8% of the vote, while midfielder Gabriel Cabral ended up with 7.2% of the total. The winner was determined via a weighted average from the following three voting bodies:
- A fan vote comprised 60 percent of the poll.
- Tormenta FC staff ballots comprised 20 percent of the poll.
- A media ballot comprised 20 percent of the poll.
