STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC’s USL League One team has announced the four nominees for the Tormenta FC Player of the Month award for October, and the community will help decide the winner.
Midfielders Tobias Otieno, Chris Heckenberg, and Jackson Khoury, as well as defender Davey Mason are all up for the award after their performances in the month of October.
Voting for the Tormenta FC Player of the Month award will run through Thursday, Nov. 2, at 11:59 p.m. ET, with voting permitted once per day. The winner will be determined via a weighted vote from the following three voting bodies:
- A fan vote (poll below) will comprise 60 percent of the poll.
- The Tormenta FC staff ballots will comprise 20 percent of the poll.
- Media ballots comprise 20 percent of the poll.

Player of the Month Nominees:
Tobias Otieno, Midfielder: Otieno played every minute during the month of October for Tormenta. Otieno completed 90% of his passes in both matches and created a single goal-scoring chance in both games. Otieno completed 21 passes into the final third, of which 14 came against the Independence. He also worked on the defensive side as well, winning eight duels against Omaha and nine against Charlotte.
Chris Heckenberg, Midfielder: Heckenberg completed nearly 95% of his passes during October’s games and completed four long balls. During the month, Heckenberg completed 15 passes into the final third and won 11 duels. Heckenberg also created one goal-scoring chance.
Jackson Khoury, Midfielder: Khoury scored the only goal for Tormenta FC with a header in the 1-1 draw in Charlotte to finish off the regular season. Jacko played 122 of the 180 minutes this month and completed 93% of his passes during his minutes. Khoury also won 9 duels and completed three tackles for South Georgia.
Davey Mason, Defender: The defender played the full 90 minutes in both matches during the month of October. During the match against Omaha, Mason completed four tackles, the most of anyone in the match. In South Georgia’s 1-1 draw in Charlotte, Mason provided the assist of Jackson Khoury’s equalizer and created three goal-scoring chances.
